LineCheck Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 13, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how LineCheck ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the LineCheck web application (the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect information such as your email address, and an automatically generated user ID.

Usage Data: We automatically collect data about your use of the Service, such as the features you access, the time you spend in the application, and system performance data.

User Content: This includes the recipes, ingredient lists, cost data, and notes you create, input, and store in the application.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

To Provide the Service: To operate and maintain the LineCheck application, calculate your recipe costs, and display your saved content.

For Internal Analytics and Improvement: To understand how our users interact with the Service, and to identify areas for improvement and new features.

Commercial Use for Sustainability: We may use, analyze, and aggregate the User Content we own for commercial purposes (such as identifying market trends or generating aggregated data insights) to help us sustain the Service and keep it free for users.

Better Invoice Matching: we use the invoices you upload and the product links you make (an invoice item linked to one of your ingredients), de-identified, to improve matching and our models, including if your account goes inactive. The item wording and the ingredient name it was linked to can help other kitchens' suggestions; your prices, your kitchen's name, and your recipes are never shared with other kitchens. You can turn off sharing of product links in Settings → Data Management on joinlinecheck.com.

Communication: To send you updates, security alerts, and administrative messages related to the Service.

3. Data Storage and Security

Cloud Storage: Your data, including your User Content, is stored securely in the cloud (on our chosen database and hosting platform). By using the Service, you acknowledge and consent to your data being stored and processed on these cloud-based systems.

Security: We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no internet transmission or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

4. Ownership, Usage, and Privacy of User Content

LineCheck Ownership: As detailed in our Terms of Service, you acknowledge and agree that LineCheck owns the intellectual property rights to all User Content (recipes, cost data, notes) created or stored on the Service.

Commitment to Anonymity: Despite our ownership and right to use your content commercially (as described in Section 2), we commit to respecting your privacy regarding your identity. We will not publicly share, publish, or sell your specific, private recipes, ingredient costs, or notes with your identifying information attached. Furthermore, we will never publicly associate any User Content with your personal name or account ID without first obtaining your explicit, separate permission.

5. Data Disclosure

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service Providers: We share data with the following third-party providers who perform services for us and are bound by confidentiality agreements:

  • Supabase (database hosting, authentication) — stores account and application data
  • Vercel (application hosting) — serves the web application
  • Plausible Analytics (privacy-focused analytics) — anonymous usage statistics only, no personal data
  • Sentry (error tracking) — receives anonymized error reports to help us fix bugs
  • Resend (email delivery) — sends transactional emails (password resets, notifications)
  • Google Gemini (AI features) — processes ingredient data for smart suggestions (opt-in only)
  • Anthropic (Claude, an AI assistant) — our team uses Claude when we fix a problem, answer a support request, or check that the service is working properly; while doing that work it can process the same account data our staff can see, including recipes and invoice images. Starting October 28, 2026, we may also have Claude read an invoice a second time to check the first reading; that never changes your prices on its own

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order).

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information and User Content for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Service. If you deactivate your account, your data is soft-deleted and can be restored within 90 days. After 90 days, or upon a hard-delete request, your data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, subject to backup rotation and legal compliance obligations.

7. Your Data Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: You can view all data we hold about you through the application dashboard.
  • Export: You can download a copy of your data in JSON format from Settings > Backup & Restore.
  • Deletion: You can request account deletion, which removes all your personal data and content.
  • Correction: You can update your account information at any time through your profile settings.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (GDPR), California (CCPA/CPRA), or other jurisdictions with data protection laws, you may have additional rights including the right to restrict processing and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@brobata.com.

8. Changes to this Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
